Interests in self sufficientcy and breeding basic hearty heritage multi-purpose types.
I've noticed a number of old heritage breeds have become rare.
Setting up for small pockets of 3 pure breeds to replace themselves and hybredize to produce red and black sexlinks.
I used to breed and show persian cats and Kuvaz dogs.
Can't eat them and they don't lay eggs so getting more practical, chickens are a logical choice to get into playing with genes and breeding. As an old breeder myself, well aware of demands of line breeding to improve type on space constraints.
Also the benefits of protecting a pool of genese offsite - you just never know, tornados, fires, floods, preditors, disease happen.
Also, I don't want my purebreds getting too inbred and stagnant but I do want to keep thier numbers small.
Sooooooo I'm wondering if there would be serious breeders that would have interest in working with a small breeder to either protect a pool of genes and/or use to outcross a generation or two and then pull the lines back? Failing that connection, finding those with good stock somewhat in the area would be nice.
Remember, hearty/heritage multi-purpose breeds also used for sex link hybridizing.

In any case, thanks for all the info available here and the friendly folks!
