II got 2 Black Copper Marans chicks from my pet chicken on April 10th. I ordered 2 vaccinated females. The 2 chicks look exactly the same as far as leg size, height, and feathering. But one of the combs is now slightly taller and is starting to have a VERY light pink tint, while the other is still very pale color. I will get a photo later, but what do you think? Obviously, I have no choice but to wait and see, but I was just looking for opinions. I am very suspicious.

Here is the one with the short comb with no color.

Ack! I posted this yesterday, and took the photos just now. "his" comb is even bigger than it was yesterday. And now I see that there are little wattle sprouts. :/

I glanced in the brooder 2 days ago, and saw the pink out of the corner of my eye. My instant reaction was, "Noooooooo! Not one of the Marans pullets!". :(

Well, the upside is... I can hatch eggs from my BCM girl with my BCM boy and make more chicks. Or I can cross with my EE roo. (I got two Roos in a batch of sexed females!). Darn the luck! or, I can find a home for them if they turn out to be not so nice. I know a few people with farms who might want such breeds of boys. Worst case scenario, I have to process them.

Best case scenario, I get more chickens next year and try again for girls.
