Tonight I noticed that one of my 11 week old pullets was hoarse. They were all on the roost, scuffling for their sleeping spots, and the one making the most noise was hoarse sounding. The only other time I've heard this was last week when I had to separate a different pullet while introducing another. She was so concerned with where the rest of the flock was, that she just got hoarse. Is this a normal thing?

I guess chickens can get hoarse just like people can if they've been in a stressful situation doing load clucking and cackling for an extended period of time. I would imagine it would happen more in roosters that got into a crowing battle with one another, but I've never heard of it. Maybe someone else will come along with a personal experience. I would just say make sure they all have access to water and that she's not being chased away from it.
