I have been struggling with a young hen who began walking on her hocks with her feet curled. One of her flock mates had the same thing when she started feathering out but after I isolated her and made sure she was hydrated, it improved. My little Welsummer obviously has some failure to thrive because the other chick her same age ( 6 wks) is beautifully feathered and strutting around.
I give her ACV, Sav a chick, Poly Vi Sol. Kept her separate from everyone so they don't bully her. She is eating well, drinking and pooping. She seems healthy - other than non weight bearing. I don't know what else to do...
How long can she walk on her hocks before permanent damage is done? She is starting to get a little callus after a week of struggling to walk/flap to get around. June is one of my very first 2 chicks and I am attached
Thanks for your input.
