Holding a huge rooster

I have my first ever show rooster, he's a 7 month old Jersey and I can hold him just fine with my hands on both sides of his wings, but I can't hold him very good with my hand under him holding his thighs, is there an easier way to hold him? I obviously won't be doing showmanship with him, but I want him to get used to being held like that as the that's how the judges do it.

You'll probably get good advice here but another thing to consider is to get him used to strangers handling him. Once you get him used to being pulled from the show cage and being held, have family and friends take turns doing the same. Nothing worse than showing a bird and have it bite the judge.
