Holidays and Birds

I am curious to know how people are caring for their birds while on vacation.

Anyone bringing their birds with them? Or are you staying home to care for your birds? How about "bird-sitters"? Do you have any special advise that you like to give strangers who are caring for your birds?

I hire someone and overpay them so they feel guilty and obligated to do a good job. I have other livestock and used to hire friends who were experienced with critters but now go with someone who only has pet experience and a deep desire to do a good job. I leave phone numbers in case of emergencies. Nary a complaint!

I have 2 bantam cochins and have decided that hubby and I will never get to go on holidays again together (he doesn't know that yet lol) because one of us will have to stay home and look after the girls!

Help! We are leaving for 2 week vacation and are trying to figure out what to do about our hens while we are gone. Any suggestions????
