Hi everyone. We just got our first flock In March and got a few new chicks today For a total of 9.
We are enjoying them very much. We have happy hour in the evenings with them and it is so relaxing!
We live in the Atlanta area so pretty mild climate. We have some buff Orpingtons, cuckoo marans , comets and a Rhode island red.
Looking forward to learning from you all and sharing our journey.

We built a larger run around it. It said it could house 9.
Yes. They always say that. But here is the reality:
LF chickens need at least 4 sq ft of space per bird in the coop and a bare minimum of 12 sq ft per bird in the run.

Welcome to BYC. People are here to help - not judge.

We built a larger run around it. It said it could house 9.

and this is how they sell coops. The 4 sq ' /bird is an absolute minimum. Overcrowding will lead to a myriad of problems - including, but not limited to, feather pecking/plucking, cannibalism, fighting, egg eating -------------
