Hey guys!!

Would like to hear some stories of how a predator got into your coop or the worst thing thats happen to your chickies!!! I would also like if people were to tell me the best materials for a coop!! If you used a certain material before that didnt work out tell me your predator,material,and the improvement!!

My first ever predator problem was in October 2011. Eight years of experience and the first time a predator has ever got one of my birds.

Whoa!...Sorry for your loss! Were your birds in the coop also or were they free ranging??This was actually my first year with chickens and they were still babies but two stray huskies got 3 out of 4 of my birds.They litterally chewed through the wood and then ended up opening the brooding boxs lid.But the coop wasnt all that great either.It was passed on to us and was a pre-made.But it was a temporary until we built the bigger one.Im suprised that the bird who survived the attack was on the roof??!I couldnt imagine watchin all my brothers and sisters die like that but he did....He was devestated throught the day as was I.I didnt put him back in the coop becuase for sure theres the possibility that those dogs would return.S o he's in a good sized box and i take him outside everyday and let him run around while I do my own thing!

I loved those birds to death!!!

The first one was free-ranging, and I went inside for 2 minutes and came back outside to squawking and 2 feet in front of me was a bobcat holding my chickens head in its mouth!

Thank you! It gets really foggy around here, and we also have a rabid skunk that lives in our town, it digs under fences and snarled at my dog but didn't spray. Yikes.
