I have a 2 day old white leghorn chick who is already getting wing and tail feathers! Wow! I thought the RIR's were fast, but this one beat them! This is supposed to be a pullet, so it better not be a roo!

they sure do! If they are going to be roos, they will grow there combs really fast too.

I have had hens that lay eggs much earlier than RIR and the roos try to breed everything in sight in just a couple months.

got any pics?
enjoy your leghorn.

Thanks for the pic. I love how yellow and fluffy leghorns look when they are small.

*sigh* it doesn't last long though

My chicks hatched from Tuffoldhen's eggs had wing feathers within the first 36 hours. They do begin to grow in fast!

My white leghorn got wing feathers sooner than my others too (ameraucanas, barred rocks, wyandottes). My production red was early too. They got them at 3-4 days.
