My goat gave birth two days ago and it has changed her personality 100%. It is like she doesn't even know me, she will not let that baby get two feet away from her. How long does this phase usually last?

Hard to say, I'd guess it depends on the goat, none of mine have ever gotten like that, they are all fine w/ me handling the kids. They generally enjoy having me hang out w/ them.

Is she a first time kidder? I had a first time kidder last year that was soooooo protective with her twins.. she was ok with me handling them and being around but when they were bouncing all over the barn and playing she appeared to be fretting whenever they were out of her sight.. and would constantly call for them and grunt for them.. she was a definate talker.. as they grew and became more independent.. she seemed to loosen up a bit.. maybe give it a couple weeks and let her hormones settle down.. I had the opposite happen with a kid.. twins.. and I had to pull the buck at 7.5 weeks because he was very bucky.. at that time his sister who I still have became very distant and appeared so sad to lose her brother.. to this day she is so wild with me.. she will sniff me and lick my fingers if she thinks I am not looking but if I even make a notion to pet her or come near her she runs like a wild rabbit.. I am hoping some day she calms down because I can't even get close to her to do meds/treatment/hoofs.. ugh.. goats ya gotta love them!!
