Chirping
I just had to share this. My 8yo daughter helps me with the chickens and rabbits on the farm. Allie is not much of a meat eater and has always disliked eating chicken (even chicken nuggets or KFC) because she says she didn't like the taste.
This spring, I ended up buying 15 fryer chicks (not CRX crosses, just plain fryers) to raise for meat because I know that home raised, free ranged chicken is better tasting and healthier. Come butchering time, Allie started out being squeamish about the process, but I want her to have more of a knowledge of how we get our food, so she was made to help. She ended up actually enjoying plucking the birds and was very proud of herself (carrying in her own plucked chicken to the house for her dad to butcher).
Well, I finally cooked one of those birds with some stuffing and asked Allie to try it. She was wary at first, but after the first bite of the small leg I gave her, she raved about it and ate both the legs I fixed. She now claims that she won't eat any other kind of chicken but the ones we raise because they taste so good.
She's finally eating chicken and liking it.
YAY for homegrown chicken!
