Home made Chicken saddles, ever make or use them?

Since there are four or five favorite hens, they are getting trod to much. The backs of them are featherless. It is cold up here. I read an article on how to make a saddle for them. These are what my first ones look like.

after the first few minutes (10 or 15) they dont seem to mind at all.

We use duct tape because Rita just kept pulling off the saddle

Works too, her feathers are coming back in.

Roosmom, your saddle looks awesome. I need to make a few. My big blue cochin roo is doing a number of my 2 RIR hens. Tomorrow, that'll be tomorrow's project.

Well, it took an extra day, but I made mine today. A few of my girls were started to look awful. Poor babies! It took them a few minutes to get used to them, but so far they're doing fine with them. Grow feathers, grow!!!
