Homemade Egg Cartons

I watched a show/video a few weeks ago where a guy was making things out of recycled paper. He'd throw the paper in five gallon buckets and let it sit a few days. Then he'd mix the paper using a drywall mixer on a drill.
He'd add more paper and water, then let that sit for a few days, etc etc until the bucket was almost full. He'd give it one last work over. He created a strainer using another five gallon bucket, then he'd spread it out to dry a little bit.

Now here's where I could imagine getting a plastic or stryo egg carton, flip it over and start coating the outside. When you're done, just take another carton of the same, and shape it to the bottom, or maybe skip that and make the bottom flat. You could probably use as many layers as you like. Possibly coming up with a lifetime non-destructable egg carton.

Of course the cartons would only be given to friends, so you know you'll be getting them back.

I would guess a mold or form and paper/fiber pulp to coat it with would be one option. You could also do paper mâché ones over a form. A pourable plastic carton would require a different type of mold. Here are some more ideas:

Here's a more stylish and modern take:

I'm assuming you don't want to spend money hahah, me either!! This is a design for my eggs that I'm shooting for.
This is perfect! It could be made whatever size I need!

I got more of them then I wanted. I have TONS of them. Find someplace that cooks fresh eggs, like a hospital or large company or something. Ask them for their old egg cartons. I got a ton from them.
