The other day I was reading this thread which inspired me to try this experiment.

The goal is to make a hatcher out of stuff one can get a local store instead of buying an incubator.

Parts list:
  • 15-quart plastic bin
  • Heating pad
  • Temp/humidity sensor
  • Towel for the base of the bin
  • Small container to hold wet cloth
  • Small towel for small container
  • Gatorade lids to keep container off of the counter top because it's too much of a heatsink.

I still haven't drilled air holes, but will try that next.

I think I have figured out how to get the temperature stable.

Humidity is okay too.

This is too cool.

This would be a good thing in an emergency when the regular incubator failed at the end of a hatch.

Normally for hatching only, a low cost incubator is better

This would be a good dedicated hatcher...and it has a thermostat. The one in this experiment would need a stable room temp which most do not have at their place

I got one of those too and I am about to try hatching some pea eggs in it. :D
