Homemade Traps

I am considering building my own trap. Although I don't have any predators getting into my chickens YET... I have somthing getting into my garbage bin....

I'm thinging i'll try to catch it BEFORE it find my chickens....

In building a trap I might try to model after a "store bought" one... hmmm??

. (I hate outdoor cats unless their barn cats- whole other rant). SOOOO I was thinking of making my own since ALOT of people have problems with the cheaper traps it seems. I'll see if I can fin the one design I locted and post it here.

My suggestion, is to buy a cheap cage trap and disassemble it and use the parts as a model/guideline.
Can use materials such as plywood, sheet metal, wire or plexiglass.
Made a few with sheet metal and plexiglass before, they were good skunk traps, they were modeled after a 12x12x36 cage trap.

Here's a site that has plans for a homemade trap.

Me and my dad made one. It was really easy to construct. We just wired chicken wire to the frame. Then built a sliding metal door on a wood frame with a string that is tied to the bait. I've caught possums in it so far. Here it is:
