This is a continuation of our Homeschool Hatch-Alongs!
Round 1: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...long-2-23-hatch.1651652/page-13#post-28475575
Round 2: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/homeschool-hatch-a-long-round-2.1655263/#post-28477895
We now have 12 chicks - 2 we hatched and 7 we bought that are all about 4 weeks old (5 silkies and 4 Easter Eggers) and 3 we just hatched that are almost 1 week old (breed unknown).
The 2 we hatched - Sunny and Cloudy
The 7 we bought:
And the 3 we just hatched (no names yet):
We introduced the 3 day old chicks to the 3 week old chicks (as recommended by slothinc) and it went well! We thought it would be like an episode of Survivor but the older ones accepted the younger ones no problem - it was so sweet.
And today we just moved them all to our smaller coop because they were really starting to stink and dust up our homeschool room.
Yuck!
We are in Southern California and the temperatures are 70’s during the day and 50’s at night right now. I put the heating plate in there just in case.
They are getting so big!
We are currently in the process of converting a dog run and building a bigger coop. Updates on that here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/converting-a-dog-run.1653964/page-2#post-28477884
Happy chickening!
