Homestead Hangout

I'm going to go pick them up in "June." I don't yet know the day. 5 Blue Australorp pullets. I can't wait.

When I have the date, I won't shut up about it. :gig When I get the chicks, I will post pictures. And more pictures. And more!
And we will all marvel at their cuteness!

Hey guys, were getting some welsh harlequin ducklings tomorrow, super excited! But I’ve got a coop question: what do y’all do for coop bedding? I’m considering switching from hay to sand, but I’m not sure yet. Any other suggestions or tips?

Aw, that's so exciting! Harlequins are beautiful. :love
I currently use straw because that's what I have on hand, but it's definitely not ideal. Once I use up the rest of what I have, I'm going to start using wood chips that we chip ourselves from clearing out our woods.

Wow, that’s awesome! Unfortunately, we are already using a bit of both. I guess we should just stick with what we got:)

Wow, I haven’t been here in awhile! I’m sorry! We had a lot happen with our flock, I just didn’t have time for BYC. Well, we decided to try out a different hatchery, and all the Welsh Harlequins except one died. The last one just died a few days ago, something got to her. But they did give us a full refund. I don’t recall the name at the moment. But our flock hasn’t layed in about 3 months, first because they were all molting, but now we don’t know why, so we are currently doing everything we can to get them laying again. We examined their poop, took a good look at each and every one of them, and they all look healthy. We really hope they aren’t sick, because then we’d have to cull them. But our turkeys all got sick and died. So this hasn’t been our best year!
