I was amazed to find this egg in my nest box today. I have never saw a chicken egg this small. All my pullets will be a year old next month. I have 4 Faverolles, 3 Buff Orpingtons, and 1 egyptian Fayoumis and they have all been laying. What I am wondering is ~~~how could a pullet lay a normal size egg and then all of a sudden lay one as small as this??? My pic has a normal size egg to compare the tiny egg to.

It's somewhat common in pullets. Called a "wind" or "fart" egg. It's something that some new layers do, till they get all the intricacies of egg laying worked out.

Thanks for y'all's prompt replies! Glad to hear that it is not uncommon and that I don't have wierd pullets. I like the idea of a "fart" egg!!!
