My chickens had hooks and whipworms. One hen was on her way out and now she's doing great after treating and also giving her flagyl (the vet recommended.) The panacur dosage recommended was- give for five days (individual dosing) then again in 10-14 days, then once a month. The vet wasn't clear if I should do the five days each month or just once a month. After the 2nd dosing I checked for hook eggs (I have a microsope and can id basic worm eggs) and discovered one hookworm egg in the sample. So, hoping the once (one time) monthly will work, in addition to possibly salting the pen, and moving their run. Hooks are nasty!!

You're right, hookworms are nasty and can infect humans. Dont go barefooted in your yard.

Sure! I've had chickens for 15 years, and have never used worming meds before, but will keeping checkin' samples for the worm loads, as I still don't want to routine use worm meds.
