Hi everyone! I stumbled on this forum a few times in the past few weeks while researching chicken care. It'll be my first time having chickens if this pans out.

Just moved to Hattiesburg Ms.

This morning I caught a stray dog thats been wandering my neighborhood for the past week. I mentioned off-hand to the animal control officer that I hope the neighbors dogs stop getting out before I get my chickens, and she said they aren't allowed, not even hens!

I'm having trouble finding info about specific laws regarding chickens in the area. Any locals familiar with this rule?

Welcome to BYC! It would be helpful to provide your location so we can help you.

Hello, and welcome! How is the dog?
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

The dog was very sweet and is apparently a frequent flyer with animal control! I would have held him longer to look for an owner except nmy own dogs were barking their heads off about me hanging out with this other dog without them! and no fence yet, so couldnt just leave him in the yard.
