Hello all!
I'm in Fayetteville, Arkansas and hoping to get started with some chickens, soon.
I'm floundering through this as best I can. First things first, I'm going to find a coop that will work for us, and then I need to start finding out about quiet, friendly breeds that are decent layers.
My neighborhood is full of outdoor cats (my neighbors think I'm strange for keeping my cats indoors), so they'll probably spend the nights inside, unless I can find a decently-priced, secure coop.

My fiancee and I share our rented home with a roommate and four cats. I knit, work retail, and grump about things on the internet. He's a bus driver, and plays video games in his spare time. We're both fans of board games and tabletop roleplaying games.

In the interests of saving money on our grocery bill and eating healthier, we're starting a big-honking garden this year, and hoping to get chickens by next spring.

I found Sliver Laced Wyandottes to be right for me

I'm actually from Michigan, as is the fiancee.
I grew up in Southgate, he grew up in Chesaning.

I've been looking at this coop, attaching some hardware cloth to the bottom.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Nevermind. Found the reviews section!

Alright, so I've settled on a breed (we're picking up the chicks on May 8th from our local co-op), and a coop. :) I'm really excited!

Well, folks. We did it.
Wednesday morning we picked up 3 Buff Orpington chicks and some kind of little chipmunk marked one. I wanna say the guy said Leghorn? I need to call and find out for sure, but my partner fell absolutely in love with her.
