Are there any small, laying hen flocks (half dozen or less hens) that I could visit within a 90 minute drive of Niagara, WI? Niagara is 90 minutes north of Green Bay, 90 minutes east of Rhinelander and 90 minutes south of Marquette, MI on the WI/MI border.

I would like to be able to show city officials that small, well managed flocks DO NOT SMELL! So, I'm very interested in the "Deep Litter" bedding method or any other method that results in no negative effects to my neighbors.

Please note... I don't have chickens, can't have them here. I'm attempting to do something about that. Like contacting my State Assembly Rep to support Assembly Bill 42 (AB42) which will override local ordinances restricting backyard poultry flocks. If you are a Wisconsin resident please contact your rep and ask them to support AB42.

I'm addressing my city's council this afternoon about changing an ordinance forbidding backyard chickens. Currently the Wisconsin Assembly bill, AB42 is in committee and had a public hearing on the 19th where seven citizens spoke in favor of the bill to restrict local governments from banning up to four backyard chickens. Zero spoke against the bill at the public meeting. IF you are in Wisconsin please contact your state senator and assembly person and encourage them to sign on as sponsors on this bill. I did so a month ago and my Assembly Rep has now signed on as supporting the bill.

A copy of this post will be posted on the Wisco thread as well.

Thanks
