horizontal nipples with steel bucket

I have been reading about horizontal nipples and am sold on the idea I don't want to use a plastic bucket due to the leaching of plastic, esp if heated. Has anyone used these nipples on a galvanized steel bucket?

I haven't but galvanized may rust where you drill the hole for the nipples. I'd rather have the plastic in a food grade bucket than rust.
You also can't use ACV with galvanized metal.
