As far as health and cleanliness a nipple system is healthier and much cleaner. Another benefit is less maintenance. As far as cost vertical nipples are very cheap to buy. The biggest complaint with vertical nipples is the leak. The other complaint is they easily freeze because they are filled with water. The horizontal nipples are spring-loaded and do not leak. Since only the back of the nipple is in the water in the nipple itself is dry. Horizontal nipples are less prone to freeze. As far as cost they may be a little more but you only need to buy them once.ive been reading all the other posts thinking of changing things around what are the pros an cons of the two ?
