We've had our chickens since the last week of June....
about 20 -21 weeks old. Of course anxiously awaiting eggs.
We haven't seen any squatting, but in the last 2 days,
there seems to be a little squabbling going on. Does this
mean we are closer to egg laying? PULEEZE!

Some people provide some extra light. You can tell them "eggs or legs!" thats what I said to mine and got eggs two days later! hang in there, that first egg is sooo awesome! I have 16 and the most eggs i have gotten is 11..I love those first eggs.. and then those weird eggs!

I don't recall how old mine were when they started laying, but I remember having a guest over (my pastor) who said something about the chickens to which I replied, "yes I've had them for many months, but they aren't laying any eggs..."

The next day I had eggs, and I have gotten many each day since. I don't care if people say they can only lay one a day, the leghorn and comet can lay 2 a day and do it often. I only got 4 today (from 4 hens, but 3 were white lol - 2 from a leghorn) 7 yesterday, and 6 the day before that.

Are chickens supposed to four or six months old when they start laying?
