Horrible distressed sounds

My six month old EE Pullet was showing signs of distress today. She was making a wheezing sound with each inhale/exhale, and would occaisionally make a shrill whine. Her eyes and nose are clear. She has no visible injuries. She walks fine. But it seemed she was straining, so I thought it was a stuck egg...she didn't lay yesterday. Her cloaca was clean, and not visibly swollen. I gave her a warm bath. The wheezing got less intense. I then left her in the warm bathroom. She passed a huge poop. Then the constant sounds got much less frequent. Now they are intermittent. She looks good. Ate some yoghurt. But no egg. And no discharge. Does the poo mean that she is definitely not egg bound? Any other possibilities/actions I should consider?

Help!

How would I know? I palpated her neck, and felt a little pea sized lump, but I can't feel anything else. Is the pea an anatomical feature, or could it be the problem?

Hmmm...yesterday she did have access to some soft baby kiwiberries (not the fuzzy kind; the smooth ones that are grape sized.) How would I tell if that were the problem?
