Horse Stall Pellets

I was hoping to use them to "dry" out my run. All this mud and continuous snow and rain is driving my and the chicks crazy. My run's not mud, but it is dirt and it is moist. I'm going for the gravel sand treatment this spring if and when it gets dry enough for me to shovel out everything. I know that can't be good for the "girls"

I have them in my coop, just put them in as pellets, they have broken down to a fine shaving at this point. They didn't eat them. I use them in my stalls also, I dont ever wet them. They would be a mess in a wet run, IMO. They really wouldn't be dry for very long. They are great to absorb horse pee, but it gets scooped out everyday, if its a busy day and I dont get it done the stall is wet, they don't absorb at all once they are wet. Hope this helps.

We started using them in the coop this winter-work like a charm under the roosts!

Don't wet them, your chickens will activate them enough!

The only thing that will "dry" a run is to stop water from entering.
Adding more organic material will simply HOLD more water.

Add sand if you want it dry

Just don't put them down on a smooth floor and try to walk across them!! We put them in the horse stalls where they normally pee then cover them with regular shavings. Almost busted my tush a few times.
