Horse wormer & hen eggs

I wormed my horse with Zimectrin Gold recently. Will that get passed in to the hen eggs if I let the hens pick through the manure from the horse? If so, how long should I keep the hens away from the horse manure? I sell these eggs to friends. I don't want them getting a taste of the wormer! Thanks for any help on this.

I would assume your chickens could get low doses of the wormer, but I don't know how much it would take to taint your eggs. Maybe call your vet and ask them if you should have anything to worry about. Or start shoveling and remove the manure to another area? Thats a good question and I to would like to know the answer since my horses, goats, cows, rabbits and chickens all pretty much cohabit-ate.....

Most of what comes out of the back end of an animal after worming is the carrier, not so much the actual chemical wormer.

Since I wormed my MFT I have been spreading the manure out in the field instead of giving it to the chickens to process into compost. I just need to know for how long to continue doing this. A couple of weeks? I'll ask my vet & let you know what the withdrawl period is.

My vet said to wait a week from the dosing date until the chickens should have contact with the horse's treated manure.

Thank you for checking that out with the vet. I know that all of the chemicals could not have been completely absorbed by the horse as I have been warned in the past to keep my herding dogs out the poo after worming the horses as well. I know the Ivermectin is especially dangerous to herding bred dogs. So it makes sense that it could be passed onto the chickens as well....
