Hi. I'm new to the world of chickens. A little batam rooster showed up at our place eating the feed dropped by the horses. After a few weeks thought he might like some company. My daughter and son in law have chickens Found our new resident some company ;-). My husband built us a coop next to the barn and now we have 6 hens of various ages all under 8 months. Unfortunately our little rooster disappeared before the secure house was finished. Our neighbors have reported loosening some of their hens to some local foxes. We are located in a rural area where various livestock and wildlife reside Some friendly some not.

Joined this site to learn more about proper chicken husbandry. Look forward to learning a lot. Thanks.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join us here! What a shame the roo disappeared before you got your coop. But at least he introduced you to the wonderful world of chickens :)

I'm sure your coop is a lovely addition to your barn. We used to have some chickens at the farm where I keep my horse and they all got along great, some of the chickens used to sit on the ponies backs which was quite amusing

Good luck for the future and enjoy your time here on BYC :frow
