I'm surprised to hear that some people have a hard time growing hosta! I have them around several trees, under two decks, alongside a 54' fence, surrounding two decks other decks, and alongside the neighbors garage, which is within 2' of our property line. (Pre-code enforcement construction.) I also have bunches of hem growing way out in back of my property, which I used to use for transplanting.) Now day, I split the existing plants and toss them out. I used to give them to the neighbors, but they're pretty much fed up with them! So, now that I have chickens, I know where to get rid of Hosta's and still be a good neighbor!
