I am raising Buckeyes in WA (haven't been on in awhile), but now will be moving to Central Louisiana. I just assumed that it would be too hot for Buckeyes there. Is this correct?

No way. Moving them this time of year may take some adjustments, but there are plenty of buckeyes in the southern states. The only issues you may run into have nothing to do with the breed, but that you are changing environments. Different soils, water, air quality etc. The buckeye will thrive in both hot and cold climates. There will be an adjustment period on any birds going from northern to southern climates.

Why would you assume it would be too hot?

I was certainly not thinking of moving them...poor birds. I was just considering what birds would be best there.

I guess I was thinking that they would not do well in the hot weather because they are heavy, thickly feathered birds. Maybe it is not as big an issue as I thought. When thinking about cold there is a lot of info and little on heat effects.
