i got this cute fuzzy top along with 10 others from Cackle Hatchery. they were born on 5/27/09. i had since sold/given away 5 of them and now i'm left with at least 2 that are crowing. 1 i'm sure is another male. 1 i'm thinking is a female since she has been sweet and caring to the other 3 'brats' with her.

and then there is this pretty blonde who i brought inside when i thought something was wrong but later found out it was a little heat stroke and being picked on by others.

i thought Blonde was a she with her tight, round bonnet of crest feathers, but the last 2 mornings 'she' has been crowing!

anyone think she is a he? or is she just trying to be like my other boys and imitating them.

i'm really hoping that she's just imitating the roos she's been around the last 2 weeks.

i've had her inside and i have to keep my loud crowing cockerels inside my basement till i can get them all homes or get a few to the butcher. i'm residential and one neighbor complained about a roo i had for one week that consistently started crowing at 5am about every 15 minutes.

i don't need any more crowers!

Although, now that I think about it, my roo has more of a black back than my hens do, they are a lot more mottled.

Just have to watch and see, I guess.
