house for new chicks?

I've got three 2 year old hens right now and am going to be adding 2 12-week old chicks soon. My plan is to put the 2 12-week olds in a chain link dog run separate from the older ladies for a while, but they're going to need somewhere to sleep. For those of you who add new chicks to your flock, what do you do for temporary housing for them? I was thinking maybe I could get a big rubbermaid storage tote and turn it upside down, cut a door in it and have them use that as a temporary house. Would that be ok?

That would work just weight it down with a brick or something and if you are going to close them in it at night make sure you add some ventalation holes
