I do know what you mean.
We have several other peafowl penned. Which helps to keep the free rangers grounded and happier to stay close. We have one spalding that free ranges.
But we have too many especially males which we will likely sell at ridiculously nothing just to find (hopefully) good homes for them.
Like anything it can get out of control. That is usually when some kind of problem starts.
Most of the time we got our better judgment telling us to stop or not get anymore. Since it is better for all to be able to get the attention they deserve instead of us spending our time in buying, hatching, and building for more.
And like you mentioned the risk of predators is always a issue.
With that one you have to stay on top of all the time.
