Hi, I have just about finished building the quail hotel, at present I have 3 hens and a roo in residence, they have been their for 2 weeks, at the end of this month I will be adding another 30 quail mainly females to the flock, I have 9 breeding cages each of around 10 sq foot, + an indoor run on concrete and peat of around 80 sq foot, furthermore I have a heated area for babies of around 7 sq foot and another for young birds of around 7 sq foot a jail/segregation unit of around 4 sq foot and a secure outdoor run again around 80 sq foot.

I have space to put another secure outdoor pen of around 140 sq foot to allow for overcrowding in the hotel. and a 10 sq foot outdoor pen for birds that are ready for sale.

My questions are:-

Can I keep 2 roo's with 3 females each in each of the breeding cages being 8 birds in total, or will the males fight.

How many birds should I keep in total without over crowding,

my aim is twofold, the first is to produce eggs for my extended family, and secondly to breed and sale young birds to create an income to cover running costs.

I would be obliged to receive your advice,

as long is there is enough space for them and you have 6 females for 2 roos they will probably be ok. just gotta try it and see what happens and monitor the progess... if birds start getting torn up then you know you got something out of whack they dont like.

sounds like you have enough space to do a lot... my brown cots are pretty dosile and I have 4 hens and a roo in a 3.5sqft cage and they are fine.... I have two different sets of browns houses like that and never had a problem...
