I have noticed a huge temperature difference in my hovabator. The model is 2365 (12 volt with fan) and I am using an egg turner.

Temps were holding steady at 99.3-99.7 at the area in blue. I noticed the temperature rising during the day and falling at night so I put the display thermometer and probe inside the incubator, side by side, in the blue area. Both read <1/2* from each other. I decided to move my temperature probe to the top of the egg turner as shown. This morning I saw 101 and 98.

Is this normal for these incubators? I have been leaving the plugs in the lid, I figured it helps keep the temp steady. And finally, should I expect a poor hatch if I was at 101* for the first 5 days? I’m hatching bobwhite quail eggs if it matters.

What happened with your hatch? I am having the exact same issue right now and wondering whether I have fried my eggs. I'll be so sad!

Thanks, MZ

Does the hovabator have a preset temp control? I have a genesis 1588 and its preset. I have two digital thermometers in mine and both read about two to three degrees of each other. I also have a Brinsea spotcheck thermometer that has a prob in it that I insert into a gell floating toy you get for pools to simulate the internal temp of the egg. If you cant use those you can find something similar to use.
Sometimes the temps change as the chicks grow. Im not sure but it seems sometimes that has something to di with the fluctuations.

Well, I messed with the temp and now I’m just hoping I didn’t get the little guys. I’ll find out soon. Lockdown for the next batch is in 2 days.

Do you have a digital thetmometer in there? I looked up your model but it doesnt say if its preset or not. You can get thermometers cheap at Walmart. Thats where I got mine.
