I got some turkey poults today. I ordered them months ago from my feedstore. They are the large whites. I did this because thought I would raise them and have them for the freezer for thanksgiving and the winter. No body ever told me "THEY WOULD BE THIS CUTE"! They are so sweet and less hyper than the chicks I got today and just don't know how am I going to send them to the butcher in the fall. By the way how old do they have to be before I take them to the processor.

I know what you mean dun I hatched 2 out 2 days ago and I didn't realize how cute turkey chicks were.

If you have enough of them it won't be that hard trust me. LOL

about 4 months and that is on a restricted diet. If you keep them on full feed and high protien in 5 months you could have a 40-50 lb turkey on your hands.

Just make sure that you feed them like the cornish x's 12 on 12 off. Pretty much only feed during daylight hours and take food at night repeat daily till slaughter. Start this at 2 weeks old.

Good Luck on them !!!
