Hi all,
Ok, I am now around 110 chicks that I've hatched over the past week. I have another 300 eggs set in the incubator to hatch over the next 3 weeks. I am working to improve a few of the breeds I'm raising and know that it takes HUGE numbers to get the types of birds you want to perpetuate the breed.
I have the following breeds:
La Fleche
Delaware
Dorking
I really want to cull as SOON as I can as you can imagine 100 birds is a awesome task to care for. Not to mention EXPENSIVE. I raised over 300 last year and didn't cull until they were 4 months old. If I can cut that down to a younger age this year I'd like to.
So, especially you old timers who've been culling for awhile, when can I start culling and what should I be looking for at each stage?
I appreciate your help!
Dave
