How and Where Do I Add Ventilation to a Vinyl Sided Shed Chicken Coop?

I'd open as much of that underside area as you can, the whole length.
Start small see how it goes.
Your Red marked plane(surface) is the soffit, that's where you want to remove.
My Blue marked plane(surface) is the fascia, I'd leave that alone as wind/snow could blow in there.

Soffit

Started off using tin snips to cut the metal. Drilled holes into exposed wood to create a start for the reciprocating saw. Found that the saw would cut through the metal too. Next image shows some of the plywood cut out.

Next image shows the light coming through from the inside, yay! This roost has PDZ and I'm able to lift out the 2X4 to clean up..

Next shows the open soffit covered with the wire mesh. As I was sawing, part of aluminum that remained between the vinyl and the plywood slipped right out which made stuffing the mesh between the plywood and the vinyl easier. It's not too pretty but I think I got it!
