How big should it be?

If I wanted to build a coup for 25 birds, how big would it have to be? How many nest boxes? I am thinking I may want to get 25 chicks, 25 banties and 10 ducks... how big would this need to be? THANKS!

P.S.- what are the advantages of free ranging/ vs disadvantages? Do YOU free range? Is it true that ducks and gess and guinea have a better chance of survival then chickens?

for 25 birds you would need at least a 10x10 coop. you will need 1 nest box for every 3-4 hens.

If you want a coop for 60 birds, you will need about a 16x16 coop.

free ranging allows teh birds constant acess to grass. If in a pen, they usually stipr the grass very quickly and only end up with dirt and mud.

The disadvantage to free ranging is predators. you have to make sure that there arent any predators that will take your birds during the day, such as stray dogs, hawks ect...

My birds free range and love it. I enjoy watching them run throuhout the property.

I dont think that ducks geese or Guineas have a better survival rate. The all are just as Vulnerable than the next.
