How big

My guineas are a few months old now and they are much larger then I thought they would be. They are larger then some people's chickens. How big do they get. Will they get bigger or do they just grow really fast. Thanks

My adult guineas are probably between 8 and 10 lbs...they got huge!

I'm not really sure, but I think the different (breeds) of guineas can weigh in differently. My adult guineas are suppose to be french pearls. They are way more than 4 lbs.. They actually weigh more than my year old cat! And chase him..quite funny to watch.

NancyP1 - you may have the French Guineas. I know they get larger than the ragular Guineas.

French and Jumbos (males) can grow to 7-8 lbs
Regular Helmeted Guineas (males, all colors) average 4 lbs

Guineas are butchering age @ 12 weeks, so yours might be full grown already. My girls are aways a tad smaller than my boys. I do have some chickens bigger than my guineas, I think my guineas are just a tad smaller than my blue peafowl.
