Hello everyone I am really wanting to hatch some eggs in this new year and I was planning to try to get my cuckoo maran to go broody but she passed away on New Year's Eve. I only have one other breed three Rhode Island Red, Plymouth Rock crosses which rarely ever go broody so... any ideas?

You can never make a hen go broody. Try putting golf balls in the nesting box, they might go broody. Get a cochin or a silkie if you really want a hen to go broody.

Okay thanks for the advice about golf balls I'll try that, but if all else fails I could have eggs in a incubator because a chicken breeder close me rents space in their incubator but I would still rather a broody!
