How can i increase egg production??

I have only been getting around 40 eggs out of my 60 hens everyday.
They get all the henscratch and oystershell they want.
They get table scraps, and other misc. food items.
They are freerange after i get home from work, from about 6-9 everynight. and weekends all day.
I figured it was the heat, but its been cool here lately...
Do they need more protien or something?


any advice would be great.

Not every hen will lay an egg every day. Some hens lay every otherday.

Just like women - hens have their on unique cycle.

Ok. i understand that part, but production has dropped. by like, 10-15 eggs a day....

Hens do not lay 365 days a year. They lay 240 - 265 on average depending on the breed.

Are they starting to molt? Summer heat causes them to slow down too.

and the heat is going away now...

Hens will spend a block of time each year not laying. They have to rest and rejuvenate their bodies. Egg laying takes alot of their energy and is wear and tear on their bodies.
