How can I make my chickens lay more?

You can try placing a golf ball or 2 in the nest box/area to encourage them to lay. I used the golf ball method to get my RSL to stop eating her eggs, and it also encouraged my 2 other hens to start laying as they recently joined the flock. and it also showed my leghorn where to lay now that she came out of her molt.

Layers need about 14 hrs of daylight, so adding a light and timer will probably help. My egg production doubled after adding lights. I'm also supplementing with Calf Manna Pro, and now crushed peppers too! To soon to tell.

The red pepper flakes did NOT work for me...and I don't have extra lighting to make the days longer. I'm getting 3 eggs daily out of 5 that are old enough/ready to lay.

You don't say how old or what type chickens you have; are they old enough & have laid before or are you waiting for them to start?

All those questions about age and breed, as well as the fact that you just got your chickens "the other day". It's very common for them to stop laying for anywhere from a few days to a few weeks after being moved. They need time to adjust, some more than others.

One of my former clients had a software development productivity enhancement technique. They thought of is as flogging the rowing slaves to make the galley go faster. We described it as "squeezing the chicken". Suffice to say, software extruded under pressure is not an egg. For them, a success rate of 1/11 would be great.

My hens did not start producing until they got a superior layer feed (M-G 20). Once they got going they were popping out an egg a day each (6/6) until the days got short. Even without extra lighting I get a daily egg from nearly every hen (4/6).
