Hi we hatched these chicks in May they are dark brahmas and now about four months old they look like cockerels but how can I tell?

There’s someone that can explain it to you better than I can... But I’ll have a go...

Comb redness: a cockerel will gain a redder / bigger comb way faster and at an earlier age than a pullet.

Male vs Female feathers: a male will have pointed / saddle feather. A female will have rounded tail feathers.

Size & leg thickness: *sometimes* you can go by leg thickness, not always. The males will usually have thicker legs than the girls. :)

Hope I’ve helped!

Thank you!
I have checked these things but still cant tell, neither of them seem to have a comb yet but one does have pointed feathers. As they are brahmas there legs seem thick anyway

Try for closer up photos... keep in mind that brahmas are slow developers. My light brahma roo wasn't an apparent boy for quite some time. Saddle feathers will become shiny, long and pointed. Hackle feathers will be long and pointed also. I found that with my boy the comb and legs came after the giveaway feathers, but maybe that was just him :idunno
