New to the chicken raising thing. I'm trying to figure out how I can tell if I have roo's or hen's. My lovely wife and daughter wanted some chicks from TSC during chick days. So we ended up with 12 Columbia Rock Cross. 1 passed on after the first night and we have 11 left. They are going on five weeks old now and some are starting to look like roo's with their bright red waddles. But when I looked at their pics as older birds both the roo's and hens had red. Also if I do have more then one roo what is a good ratio to have more than one?

Look at their combs. The roo's combs will develop quicker than the hens. I think if you have 2 roos with 9 hens you should be o.k. As long as they have enough space.
