New to the chicken raising thing. I'm trying to figure out how I can tell if I have roo's or hen's. My lovely wife and daughter wanted some chicks from TSC during chick days. So we ended up with 12 Columbia Rock Cross. 1 passed on after the first night and we have 11 left. They are going on five weeks old now and some are starting to look like roo's with their bright red waddles. But when I looked at their pics as older birds both the roo's and hens had red. Also if I do have more then one roo what is a good ratio to have more than one?
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
