How close is too close

I am about to build my coop for my 6 Gold Sex Links that I just got yesterday and am still deciding exactly where to build my coop.

We have an acre of land but I would like to keep it fairly close to the house for ease of egg collection in bad weather.

We have a shed that I was gonna add onto to build the coop and run but it is about 30-40 feet from my neighbors house. I was just wondering if that would be too close to cause issues(i.e noise and smell). Don't want to get into the neighbor war but I also want to use what is already kinda there for the build.

I can try to snap a few pics later is this may help folks.

After some trial and error, I like my coop closer to my house. It snows a lot here and it is terrible getting out there in the morning before work after a evening of snow. If you keep up with the poo and you don't have 100 chickens, smell should not be an issue.

If you don't have a rooster it should be fine. I agree have the coop close to the house. Our coop you have to walk 50-75 feet to and through two padlocked gates. By the time I get there and back I'm drenched or frozen.
