How cold is too cold?

Hello Coloradans,

I'm on the front range and it is currently 9 degrees F. I haven't given my girls a heat source because I am under the understanding that with one they won't acclimate to the cold. They seem fine and they still want out to free range in the yard. Should I be worried about how cold it is? I only have 2 hens in a little backyard coop.

Well it is expected to get to -9 tonight. I think I am going to put them in a crate in the garage. My coop is not well insulated. Thanks for the article.
