I have 6 nesting boxes - 3 on top and 3 on the bottom. I have some broody hens setting on ducks and peacock eggs, so I make sure they are all tucked in on the bottom 3 nests.
Well.....last night I checked on everyone and found one of the duck eggs in the upper right box with a peck hole in it. At first I thought "HATCH!" but no, it wasn't fully developed. I'm guessing one of the chickens checked it? Do they just know when an egg isn't going to fully develop?
But, more importantly, how did the egg get to the top bunk?!?!?! Can a chicken tuck it between its legs and fly up there???
