I have 2 mottled lavender hens, 1 blue, and mottled lavender English Orpington rooster all together. Today was hatch day and one of the chicks is brown. How did that happen?? I'm still learning about color genetics. I know lavender and lavender gives you lavender chicks. I was unsure about lavender and blue. But a brown chick has really confused me. Is it because they are mottled? Have pics of parents. No pic of chick right now.

Thank you! I've been wonder about a chocolate orp ancestor. The pens are metal wiring with tops on them and checked daily. That's why I'm so puzzled. I can get a pic tomorrow morning of the chick.
